Welcome to
our Kennel
Our 800 square
foot kennel building has eight dog runs. Each run consists of a 4
x 6 inside kennel and a 4 x 12 outside run; the building is air
conditioned and fully insulated. The flooring is finished with
epoxy coating for ease of maintenance and comfort for the dogs.
Here you will find details of the planning and construction
project. We
moved from Tempe to Queen Creek, Arizona so that we could have the
land and room for our dogs. We found the ideal property on a
private road near Higley Rd and Hunt Highway, in the middle of a
citrus grove. The place needed work; we began by fencing the
property, removing eighteen dead trees, and hauling load
after load after load of debris from the yard. With
the back yard cleared, we pondered where to place the kennel
building. One of us wanted east facing, to block the worst heat of
the day during the summer, the other wanted west facing, to have
the least negative impact on our "view". We played with
overhead photo shots of the lot, drew to-scale models of various
orientations and thought about it a lot. East facing won
out. |
