We support our
local Akita rescue, AARTA
(Akita Advocates Relocation Team Arizona). Featured below are two
dogs in rescue who deserve loving homes for their lifetimes. Most
dogs in rescue are there through no fault of their own, but more
likely because their families failed them. Email
AkitaAdvocates@cox.net
for information about
either of these two dogs, and check out http://www.akitaadvocates.com
for a complete listing of Akitas in rescue in the metro Phoenix
area. Please consider a
rescue: you're a lifesaver! |

Raven
Hi!
My name is Raven, but I’m also known as “wiggle-butt”.
I’m a happy girl at heart, even though I’m in a kennel and
don’t have a home to love me at the moment. I take
whatever lemons life throws at me and make lemonade! I know
I have a new home just waiting to love me out there somewhere, and
you’ll want me as much as I want you.
I
ended up at the shelter when my owners could no longer care for
me, and the shelter was going to euthanize me. I have
something called SA—Sabaceous Adenitis—which is just a fancy
term for a chronic skin problem. I do need weekly baths to
condition my skin and coat, and am on fish oil vitamins as a
supplement. There is some new medication out
that can help me grow a better coat. But even
though my coat is not as thick as some other dogs, my personality
comes shining through. I feel good and look a lot
better now than my pictures which show me as I looked when Rescue
took me in.
I’d
love to wiggle into your home and heart, and be the sunshine in
your life. Won’t you give me a home I can call my
own again?
Email
AkitaAdvocates@cox.net for an adoption application. Our adoption
process also includes a home visit, family interview, pet meeting
if you already have pets, and adoption fee. |
Tessa

Hi, I’m Tessa, but you can call me
Contessa. Aren’t I regal looking? You may adore me now. Look at
my really curly tail, and I’m giving you my serious look for the
formal portrait. But I also have a playful side. I’m a spayed
2-3 yr old Akita girl who can be calm and well behaved. I can sit
and down, but usually roll over on down for a tummy rub. I can be
a bit shy at first---but as a stray, you learn to be a little
reserved. Never know what will happen to you next. I like to go
for rides in cars where I usually lie down and go to sleep. But
I’m ready to go exploring as soon as the car stops and I can get
out and sniff.
I’m house trained, and am eager
to find my forever home. So if you come and meet me, I promise I
won’t act too regal, but will show you my cuddle-up personality.
I’d be OK with being an only pet (no cats please), and depending
on the boy dog, might get along with one who is my size. But I
don’t like other girl dogs.
I thought I got my forever home a
few months ago, but their previous girl dog who ran off came back
and we did not get along. I was the newcomer, so I had to go. Now
I’m back in rescue, in a kennel, dreaming of my forever home
again.
Wouldn’t you love to be able to
say there is a Contessa in your family? I will impress your
friends and relatives with my regal air. Please come courting me.
I am up to date on vaccinations,
spayed, and will be microchipped before placement.
